In the summer of 1998 on the northwest Norfolk coastline, where the sea appears to roll out of view at low tide only to race in like a train over the great expanse of flat sand with the return of the waters, a secret from the past was revealed to the world. A great upturned Oak Stump, with its sturdy roots pointing up to the sky, was exposed by the shifting sands. Surrounding this central 2.5 meter trunk was a 6.7 meter circle of 55 smaller Oak logs which had been split and erected in a close-fitting arrangement. All bar one of these hand-hewed posts had their bark facing outwards so that from a distance it wold have appeared like one giant dark tree with a gleaming line of light running vertically on the north-east side. Obviously, from the inside the reverse would have been observed. A bright ring of shining timber surrounding this sacred inverted tree.
The wood has been dated accurately to 2049 BC: by assessing of the tree rings and radio carbon dating.
This early bronze-age monument was constructed on an inland salt marsh, protected from the ocean by sand dunes and mud flats. Over time, coastal erosion changed the landscape, first burying the structure and preserving it, and then exposing it once again to the elements.
Reports say that it had been know about by locals for 20 years prior to it's 'discovery', but once its presence was brought to the attention of the archaeological community all the timbers were removed from the site to preserve and study them, as it was believed that they would have been quickly destroyed if left in place. The remains are now on display in King’s Lynn Museum, along with a reconstruction model.
It was not alone. A second monument was discovered close by and was labeled Seahenge II. This one was however left in place. There is nothing left to see of these sacred structures on site today, and this beautiful beach is now a protected wildlife sanctuary. It offers simply stunning views for those who respectfully visit this lovely location, and some special vibrations can be observed here by sensitive souls.
I have visited from time to time when in the area. I was present on the beach for the Virgo New Moon in September 2018, one of the few times in the past 14+ years that I have not been at my beloved stones in Avebury to honor the moon, and so it is again in 2021. On a blissfully balmy evening it was a delight to walk this stunning beach, feeling into the energy of this special place. It is possible to detect a line of energy crossing this marginal region of the sand dunes to ocean which empower the heart and clear the solar plexus. The sunset was magical. Illumination the sea with pink and golden hews of dazzling light on the surface of these gentle rolling shallow waves at the standstill of the tide. I have not witnessed high tide here before and it was wonderful to be so close to the water.
The Virgo New Noon was initiated at 01.52 BST (UK Time) on the 7th September, just a few minutes before the low tide. I could imagine the Sun and Moon in their union pulling the waves way out to sea to deliver their cosmic codes into deeper water in the depths of the night. The energy of this New Moon speaks loudly of our ancestral roots. Gathering up the embedded wisdom from the Earth from those who have walked the land before us to bring this knowing forwards from these unseen realms, and from the Stars, to build new foundational layers of consciousness as we take another ascending step into a new paradigm. This perception is ready to be grounded into a new reality of Self.
The symbolism of Sea Henge checks all these boxes and so it feels fabulously in flow to be here throughout this new Lunar phase. It is my intention to be present with the Full Moon and Equinox energies here also this year, and I will bring you further insights. The High Elven of the Pleiades have been directing my attention to the water recently. They offered a powerful activation from a sea-cave on the ocean floor just a few weeks ago.
